Hands Like Houses’ show at Southampton’s Joiners was a last minute affair, organised due to the cancellation of Of Mice And Men’s ‘Cold World’ Tour. Though it was more than worth it, the intimate venue provided a chance for newer fans to catch them in a new light. Support for the night came from up-coming band Glass Foundations.
no rehearsal are a three-piece indie-rock (and blues and pop) band from Houston, Texas. After listening to their EP’s and loving them, I couldn’t wait to talk to them. Singer Matthew Cobb and bass player Christian Mireles took the time to chat before a show. We spoke about their inspiration, fondest music memories and their hopes for the future.

no rehearsal combine elements of blues, indie and pop rock. Their versatile style isn’t contained by genre, instead drawing from their numerous influences to create songs that can’t really be classified as one genre. The trio from Houston, TX, consists of Matthew Cobb, Christian Mireles, and David Shorey. The EP ‘Change Of Heart’ captures the feel of the band perfectly and won me over straight away.
Despite Of Mice And Men having to cut the set short due to lead singer Austin Carlisle’s condition, this was still an amazing show. Both Crown The Empire and Hands Like Houses had the crowd dancing, singing and screaming like a headline band would. The Pyramid Centre itself was lovely, filled with brilliant staff (including everyone’s favourite dancing security guard). I can’t wait to see these acts again and to attend more shows at the Pyramid Centre.
