Old Notes – Rocco

Old Notes only formed in April of last year, but they’ve already produced one album and another is on the way – and from the sound of latest single ‘Rocco’ it is going to be just as beautiful. Their lyrics are meaningful and relate-able, the melodies captivating and the guitars roaring. ‘Rocco’, like all other songs from this band, urges the listener to connect with it on a deep emotional level.

‘Rocco’ is raw and heart-wrenching. A song of pain and loss inspired by the death of a pet, a touching tribute. The lyrics are deeply moving, any listener who has experienced loss is able to connect to this song instantly. Old Notes further demonstrate their ability to pull at your heartstrings, not unlike Being as an Ocean and old Brand New. I feel like ‘Rocco’ gave each band member their moment in the spotlight, really emphasising the talent in the band. For me, the drums were brilliant in this song – fading and growing in all the right places.

When reviewing ‘former self’ I wrote “I look forward to seeing what they produce next – and if it’s anything like ‘former self’ make sure you have the tissues ready” and it seems like that prediction was spot on. The band recently finished recording their sophomore album, so keep an eye on their social media for the release date. This is not an album you’ll want to miss out on. Check out their debut album ‘former self’ if you haven’t already.
