Daisy Clark | Sing Something Saturday

I can’t think of a better way to kick off our new feature, Sing Something Saturday, than with Daisy Clark. With over 40,000 subscribers, this 19-year-old singer-songwriter from the UK has a large following for a reason.

She covers everything, from Nial Horan to The 1975 to Coldplay, so you will undoubtedly find something you like on her channel. Below are my 3 favourite covers by Daisy – let me know what your favourites are!

Through her covers, she highlights her guitar-playing ability and her skill at making an old song sound new and different. Her cover of ‘Naive’ by The Kooks is one of my favourites; she really makes the song her own and demonstrates the range she has. Her voice really dominates in this video, with the guitar in the background tieing it all together.

A very close second is this emotional rendition of ‘The Scientist’ by Coldplay. This acoustic performance really adds depth to this beautiful song from Coldplay. I didn’t think this classic could get more moving, but Daisy really does reach out and tug at your heartstrings.

Choosing just three songs was incredibly difficult – but in third for me has to be her cover of ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ with Fern. This cover was the first cover I heard from Daisy and it had me hook, line and sinker. I really loved it and how it was a little different to what I expected and the covers I’d already heard.

Though these top 3 are covers, this songstress doesn’t just cover radio-hits – she also writes her own music. These original tracks are just as emotional, relaxing and talented as her covers, if not more so. Make sure you check out her channel, her original tunes and subscribe to hear more.
