My friends in Death By Shotgun just released their new EP ‘Good Times // Sad Times’ and it is amazing. Lyrically, the EP explores the ups and downs of life, creating a set of tracks perfect for any mood. The four-piece band continue to grow as people, as individual musicians and as a band. With this EP, the boys take centre stage and demand to be heard.
Ducking Punches, Death By Shotgun and Kill the Witness rocked The Wave Maiden. The intimate venue was filled with passionate fans and those who got drawn in by the music from downstairs alike. All of these people had something in common – by the end of the night we all loved the three bands that played. The night put together by Nerd Rage Bookings, gave us a range of the very best punk has to offer; from pop-punk to indie-punk all these bands gave us music that meant something
I’ve been a fan of Death By Shotgun since seeing them open for Trash Boat in Southampton last year and was super excited to catch them again in Southampton for another show and an interview. This four-piece band melds pop, punk and rock together to create catchy melodies with incredibly relatable lyrics. This live review is slightly different to the others featured on this site; mainly as we missed many of the bands due to coach times. This gig, headlined by Faux, at The Joiners in Southampton certainly began brilliantly. Death By Shotgun kicked off the night, followed by a band called Polary both of whom captivated the audience at one of my all-time favourite venues.
The Talking Heads is a treasure hidden away in the streets of Southampton. Last night, one of their two deceivingly large rooms was host to an amazing show from 4 pop-punk bands. Each band was fantastic, with the crowd really getting behind every performance. The first night of tour is off to a flying start for Trash Boat, Broadside and Homebound.
